About this bottle

Doña Vega is produced by a family-owned organic company now in its fifth generation. This female-founded mezcal brand roasts its piñas for four days in subterranean stone pits. While aged in oak barrels, the Tobalá variety is carefully harvested by hand. Sonya Auvray established the brand with the goal of creating a modern mezcal that honored traditional methods.

A robust, airy smokiness like creosote covers the agave spirit. It's subtly sweet and very mellow, giving the impression of a delicate, sophisticated, and self-assured mezcal. After the initial blaze of woodsmoke subsides, gentler tastes of toasted marshmallow, milk chocolate, and walnut emerge on the tongue. The finish is moderately long and clean, with a whisper of chili at the very end. A truly excellent and quite unique mezcal. Enthusiastically recommended for aficionados of premium agave and mezcal.
