Don Papa Masskara

The foundation of this rum is excellent, with notes of honey and the taste of sugarcane. It is an overall smooth spirit that *should* feel gentle on the palate, but the Siling Labuyo (Filipino green pepper) is excessive. It imparts a bitterness to this otherwise smooth rum. They describe it as "a beautiful combination of sweetness and acidity," but the peppers introduce a bitterness that is misplaced. Why make it taste like other acidic, inexpensive rums? The only elements that remind us of the premium quality are the honey and the sweetness of sugarcane. The latter flavor fades and becomes something neither distinctly sweet nor distinctly bitter.

You can either love Don Papa or despise it as an artificially enhanced rum, but if you enjoy it, this one surpasses the classic edition. It offers a different, very pronounced flavor profile, and it's more affordable:-)

Very prominent vanilla and caramel notes, similar to another well-known rum. The spice is present and accompanied by heat, but it's more subdued, guiding you through an extended finish.

Sweet and citrusy lemon on the nose, lots of caramel, butterscotch, honey, and some vanilla. One of the better sweeter rums I've sampled.

Beautiful rum, caramelized sugar, toffee, and butterscotch are the main notes. Good in mixed drinks with 7up, Ginger ale, or Coca-Cola.

This is among the finest rums I have ever had the pleasure of tasting! I adore it!
