I don't typically enjoy rum because I find it too sweet, at least the ones I've tried. This one has a lighter flavor profile compared to the very sugary rums commonly available. The maple flavor is present but not overpowering. I purchased this at the distillery located in Milwaukee.

About this bottle
This rum is made from fermented grade A molasses. Maple syrup, sourced from Cumberland, Wisconsin, is introduced during the second distillation. The spirit is named after Dan Seavey, a Great Lakes pirate known for commandeering the schooner Nellie Johnson in 1908. This vessel was carrying lumber when Seavey, after incapacitating the crew with alcohol, reportedly took possession of it. He claimed to have won the ship in a card game after his capture.
