Cruzan Diamond Light Rum

I'm surprised by the low ratings this received. While it won't astound you, it's a capable white rum and even acceptable neat. It's also very inexpensive, so even if it doesn't stand out among other white rums, it's still a solid value, superior to Bacardi in my view. The nose presents pineapple and oak, clearly on the fruity side. The palate offers toasted coconut and a touch of sweetness, but not excessive. The finish has decent length and a hint of pepper. There's also a bit of a burn, more than I anticipated, but not unpleasant. I'd say it's better than Diplomatico and many other white rums. Once again, its value is its strongest point. It won't blow you away, but it's worth the $15.

The rum possesses very light flavor and aroma. The scent offers tropical fruit and molasses, with subtle grassy and funky undertones. Upon tasting, there are mild molasses and fruit notes accompanied by a hint of grass and chemical solvent. As the solvent flavor fades, a touch of sweetness emerges with a whisper of wood. The finish sees the sweet molasses diminish, leaving a fruity, grassy, and woody conclusion. In essence, it tastes and feels like a heavily diluted product. For the same cost, superior rums are available.

Typical of Cruzan, this offers great value while delivering significantly. It's more than just a mixer; it's perfectly satisfying when sipped neat. It has notes of butter, vanilla, a touch of oakiness, and more richness than one might expect from a light rum. Compared to the standard Cruzan light rum, this is considerably more pleasing.

Cruzan Diamond Light Rum presents complex scents of cooking spices, burnt sugar, and wood. It enters the mouth gently, revealing tropical fruit on the tongue. The conclusion features cooking spices and wood. It's not impressive on its own and is just okay in cocktails.
