Casa Dragones Tequila Blanco

Casa Dragones Blanco used to rank higher for me. As my preference has shifted towards agave-forward expressions, Dragones has truly stood out as a tequila with an earthier, slightly bitter profile, interspersed with hints of sweetness and mint. The aroma is quite pleasing, offering notes of cooked agave, green apple, pineapple, vanilla, smoke, and subtle vegetal nuances. On the palate, a rather pronounced medicinal and herbaceous character is discernible, alongside flashes of cooked agave, mint, and dry earthy and cinnamon characteristics. As this tequila evolves, more of its sweet, fruity qualities emerge, leaving a pleasant, smooth finish.

When you spend a lot of money, you expect impressive results. I have to admit, I was very disappointed with this highly praised tequila. Based on the ratings from others, many people apparently feel the same way. Perhaps it's the “modern method” used in its creation that causes it to fall short of expectations? All I know is it made me want to try something else. May I suggest Casa Dragones Sipping Joven? It is significantly better.

An elegant Blanco Tequila from Tequila Casa Dragones, hailing from the lowlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Its aromatic beginning presents notes of agave, earth, fresh fruits, flowers, and herbs. A vibrant middle phase introduces green apple, grapefruit, cloves, black pepper, and mint, culminating in a delicate and slightly creamy finish of medium length with notes of almond cream. I tried this in a blind tasting event and it was the one I ranked lowest due to its weak agave flavor and lack of character. A perfect example of a total rip-off.

Overwhelms with agave flavor and alcohol burn. Light body offers no lingering finish. A letdown for the price, as superior tequilas can be found for cheaper.

It's smooth... Starts sweet, with a smooth, sweet finish... Quite pleasant and clean on the palate. The tequila aroma and taste are very pleasing.
