The aroma is just as excessively sweet as the first Captain Morgan Spiced. Its taste leans hard into manufactured honey and caramel notes. Just so we're on the same page, I don't have a problem with sweet drinks; it's the fake taste that gets me. The increased alcohol content doesn't tame the original's sweetness much; instead, it just brings a rougher burn going down. It's fine for mixing with cola, but it makes that beverage too sweet as well.

As a bourbon drinker, I gambled on this, recalling the original Captain's flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. It's sweet and fruity, with a decent amount of spice. I enjoy Bottled and Bond whiskey, and while I'm not saying this tastes like that, the increased alcohol content is beneficial here! I would purchase it again.

Smells like alcohol, then caramel, then butterscotch. It's just okay. Upon tasting, there's a subtle caramel flavor followed by a gentle, sweet peppery spice. Extended tasting intensifies the pepper and brings out a syrupy, inexpensive caramel sweetness. This is really only good for mixing in drinks!

Shania Cherry 3.5

Realistically, people only buy this rum for rum and cokes. It's fine for that purpose and works well, though it might seem too sweet as you get older. Still tasty, though.

Quite sugary with a touch of spice. It's acceptable. Could have been excellent with a bit more intensity. Consumed over ice.

Detected strong vanilla and some caramel. Spicy on the tongue and REALLY SWEET. Too sweet for my liking.
