Captain Morgan Private Stock Rum

The aroma is exceedingly sweet. Vanilla and butterscotch are dominant, followed by candied apricot and pineapple. There's also a subtle amount of spice, possibly nutmeg or clove, that enhances the scent. The taste is extremely sweet, almost like a liqueur. The pineapple and apricot are noticeable but are overshadowed by the intensely sweet vanilla and butterscotch notes. This could rival Bumbu for sweetness. Very simple, straightforward rum with vanilla and sweetness, a hint of spice and cocoa. I like this rum; I consider it a budget version of Diplomatico, as it's quite similar. However, the flavor only lasts about two seconds, then you get bitterness, whereas Diplomatico's flavor lasts about five seconds and is much more pronounced. I enjoy this rum and would buy it again; it's very sweet and vanilla-forward. I like it straight, much like Diplomatico, but with more burn, no bitterness, and less flavor complexity. Give it a try if you like sweet drinks; you'll love it, especially for the price.

The aroma is distinctly different from whisky, carrying a sweet scent. Upon closer inspection, it smells like the bubblegum from Denver gum, the kind with dinosaurs on it. The artificial nature of this scent is quite obvious. The taste has little to offer, but it's faintly sweet, like soju. There's hardly any spice, so much so that I could keep it in my mouth the entire time I was writing this review. The best way to describe the taste is like a day when soju tastes sweet. It has a slightly sweet soju flavor, and the texture is not much different from water. As soon as you swallow, the scent of Denver gum briefly passes through your breath. After the sweetness fades, surprisingly, nothing substantial remains.

The aroma and flavor are reminiscent of sweet vanilla syrup. It presents as a more elegant, muted spice iteration compared to the initial rum. I find it superb served straight or over ice. However, if mixing is your intention, utilizing the original would be just as effective and more economical, saving approximately $10.

I'd choose several other rums over a basic Captain Morgan bottle, but I must say that Private Stock is my favorite of all the ones he offers. I'll drink Private Stock instead of the others Morgan makes.

I largely concur with the expert review regarding flavors. I disagree with the "super sweet" assessment. It possesses sweetness, but not to an extreme degree. This is one of my preferred spiced rums, and it's reasonably priced.
