The creation of Cachaça Estação da Cana stemmed from a desire by the inhabitants of the Juréia district, situated by the Muzambo River in Monte Belo, Minas Gerais, for a high-quality, distinctive product that represented their locality. Júlio César Benjamim, the present owner and proprietor of Estação da Cana, who had prior experience only with the cachaça his great-grandfather had begun years earlier, decided to explore the world of Brazilian spirits. He pursued relevant courses and lectures, encountered various stills, and thoroughly studied their respective production methods. By 2015, he had planted the initial sugarcane for his cachaça. With the sugarcane growing, the next step was selecting a name that honored his family and the town. This proved straightforward. Juréia had been a significant railway center for over four decades. Coincidentally, Benjamim's family had relocated to the area in 1911, the same year construction on the railway commenced. Thus, naming his spirit Estação da Cana was a fitting tribute to a crucial regional landmark and his family heritage. The cachaças are distilled in copper stills and aged in wooden barrels using a solera system. Rigorous quality control is implemented to ensure the production of a fine and authentic distillate. Cachaça Estação Da Cana Carvalho Americano 750ml spends two years aging in ex-bourbon barrels (used for the first time for cachaça) and is then finished in new barrels for six months. At 40% alcohol, it exhibits a vibrant golden color and a medium body. The aroma presents balanced alcohol, a subtle coconut fruitiness, vanilla, and a sweetness reminiscent of wild honey.
