This brand offers many cachacas with different barrel treatments. This one is unaged. It's quite good on its own but truly shines in mixed drinks. On the nose, I detect vegetal and tropical fruit notes. The palate presents grassy flavors along with some sourness (lemony) and a bit more alcohol presence than anticipated. It's less sweet than other cachacas. The finish provides a decent warmth and bitterness. Other unaged cachacas are superior for sipping neat (like Novo Fogo), though this one is adequate. It really excels in cocktails, which is its primary purpose. It's a step up from Leblon, but comes at a higher price. Is the additional cost justified? For most people, likely not, especially if you prefer sweeter cocktails; in that case, Leblon would be a better choice.

About this bottle
Katia Espírito Santo, one of Brazil's few female cachaça distillers, manages a sustainable production process. It begins with sugarcane grown without pesticides and hand-harvested at her farm, Fazenda da Quinta, in Rio de Janeiro state. The cane is processed using a spring-fed water wheel, and the fermented juice is distilled in copper pot stills. Avuá Cachaça Prata is allowed to rest in stainless steel tanks for six months before being bottled by hand.

A slight funk is noticeable on the nose, with light floral notes. The palate is earthy with a light body and a bit of grass, which becomes more prominent in the finish, which is somewhat dry and bitter.
A nose that smells yeasty, like bread starter! It's sweet and sour, reminiscent of a box of raisins. This flavor carries through, joined by creamy grass and subtle fruit, similar to a bright, underripe pear.
A bright, sweet, vegetal aroma. Clearly cachaça. Mineral water, citrus peel, and sugary bread notes are present. It's clean and well-constructed.
no age, 86 proof, aged six months in stainless steel. velvety, fresh, delicate fruity notes
The ultimate refreshing spirit. Sweet, subtle, and invigorating.
