In 1889, the steamship Vincenzo Florio arrived in Santos from Genova, Italy. ERNESTO FIORAVANTI and CATERINA FIORAVANTI, who produced Bardolino wine and the well-known Italian brandy grappa in the Veneto region, disembarked and sought land in São Paulo. They established a town called Dracena. Oswaldo Fioravanti, one of Dona Caterina's sons, in tribute to his mother and the Fioravanti family matriarch, named the new property Fazenda Santa Catarina, which it remains today. The Santa Catarina farm now utilizes sugarcane, a versatile plant, for everything from sugar and biodegradable plastics to bioenergy production and their flavorful cachaça. In 2008, the owners of the Santa Catarina farm aimed to diversify their business by establishing Destilaria Vitória, a company dedicated to crafting superior cachaça, a product of exceptional sensory and chemical quality, recognized with numerous national and international awards. This distillery is the home of CACHAÇA CATARINA, named in honor of the inspiring woman. The Cachaça Catarina Única is a remarkable cachaça that imparts a distinctly Brazilian character to this single barrel offering. It is aged for two years in American oak casks, adhering to the maturation principles of top Kentucky bourbons. Bottled in small, single-barrel batches, it delivers unique aromas and tastes. Similar to the world's most renowned bourbons, its flavor diverges from traditional Brazilian cachaças, adding a refined touch to the palate. This is a limited release of Catarina cachaça meant for special appreciation. It has an amber hue, with notes of vanilla, coconut, dried fruits, spices, and toffee, featuring well-integrated alcohol and a long finish. Source: Palassi Cachaçaria website
