Bully Boy American Straight Whiskey

Nose: spicy, evergreen, peppermint, toffee. Palate: medium-dry and spicy, herbal, thin. The viscosity is lacking compared to most ryes and bourbons. Finish: average length, with lingering rye spice. I suspect that either the cask is a refill or the mash bill doesn't meet the criteria for bourbon or rye, preventing it from qualifying as either. Rye is definitely dominant in the nose and palate, with its dry herbal characteristics. Because it lacks commitment to one profile, the effect is somewhat weak. It's pleasant enough to drink, but it doesn't possess the rich, vanilla dessert qualities of bourbon or the more robust, complex spicy character of good ryes.

Just finished the first of two bottles, having purchased the second after enjoying the first few drams. It has a copper hue, a sweet aroma, and a mild burn afterward. It's very sippable straight; adding ice would likely dilute it too much, but it would excel in a mixed drink. The value is outstanding for the cost. If you're in the New England area, grab two bottles for yourself. I'm eager to visit the distillery's tasting room on my next trip to Boston.

This reminds me more of a high-quality Canadian whisky than most American ones. I detect the sweetness of corn followed by rye's spice. Perhaps it's the timing of my purchases around the holidays, but drinking this evokes feelings of festive seasons, spicy dishes, and sweet, caramel-infused baked goods.

This whiskey has a mild sweetness and significant breadiness on the nose. The palate mirrors this closely, with the addition of some pepper and bright fruit. The finish is short and slightly toasted. Overall, it's very pleasing.

The alcoholic presence is quite pronounced, possibly masking the flavors due to a lack of maturation. However, it retains a genuine character of its Boston origins. A must-try if you're visiting Boston.

This bottle significantly surpassed my expectations for its price category. I visited Boston on holiday and wanted to try a local whiskey. It was a smooth and delightful treat that everyone in our party enjoyed.
