Ballantine's Glenburgie 15 Year

My final review on the "Ballantine's Single Malt series" is the home of Ballantine's itself: Glenburgie. It is in this distillery that Pernod Ricard blenders make the popular Ballantine's, and they have of course their own single malt. This time it's another 15yo expression. The Distillery is well known for Geese who guard the whole place, and they tend to attack strangers. Bottled at 40%abv. On the nose: another super speysider. Toffee, Vanilla, Banana, Caramel, Honey, Cider. On the palate, honey and cereal. Like honey Corn Flakes for breakfast. Aftertaste has a dry grassy note, with more honey. Overall this is a very nice dram, especially if you are a honey lover. 83 over 100.

I'm definitely getting green apples and sherry on the nose. The palate is almost like apple juice... sweet, a little tart, and after swirling it around a bit, it becomes spicy. The finish is short with sweet red apples. It's pretty easy to drink neat, and I'm enjoying the dram so far.

Nose: Mild oak and honey with a malty sweetness and a touch of butter. Palate: Toffee sweetness, honey, a hint of spice, quite thin in body, with subtle pear notes. Finish: Slightly sweet and warming, though a bit short and light.

Nose: Apples, vanilla, oak Palate: Apples, vanilla, honey Finish: Fruity, spicy oak While this is a very pleasant whiskey, it feels somewhat lacking in body. Perhaps a higher alcohol content would have amplified the flavors.

Nose: A strong oak presence with gentle fruit and light vanilla. Palate: A rich body with oak influence, smooth and well-balanced. Finish: Medium-long, warm, toasty, with a subtle bitterness.

Copper-caramel color. Simple nose: Woody caramel. Varnish. Syrupy. Intense on the palate, slightly bitter, with a mild tingle. In the aftertaste, varnish or leather dominates, with a long finish.
