Review #3 - Brandy / Cognac #1 Nose - Quite alcoholic and initially uninviting. It eventually revealed aromas of oak and honey, with some dried fruit, faint sweetness, and spice. Perhaps a hint of vanilla. Extended bottle oxidation introduced an unpleasant sourness. Palate - Heavily oaked, with some fruit (primarily dried), honey, and vanilla from the oak cask, possibly some nuttiness. Noticeable oak spice, which occasionally felt slightly unbalanced. Slight effervescence and an oily texture were apparent. Finish - Medium, dry, oaky, oily, with pronounced oak spice and a touch of sweetness. It's reasonably interesting and pleasant, though not exceptionally smooth given its age. The spiciness can be quite jarring at times.
