Nose: Fragrant and perfumed with sweet, rich citrus notes. Juniper is present but not overpowering, complemented by warm spicy tones for a balanced aroma. Palate: Begins sweet and creamy with a hint of spice. As it develops, the spice becomes more prominent and fills the mouth satisfyingly. It has a very pleasing richness and density, with a slightly honeyed undertone. Finish: Medium length. Pine needles and resin add brightness to the finish. A rich, full-bodied classic London gin with a strong presence throughout, featuring a subtle sweetness. It stays close to its roots. It's very enjoyable and a good value, but not exceptional. The official distiller's notes are accurate, but I wouldn't rate this gin as highly. It's definitely better than average, but that's all.

About this bottle
Introduced in 2005, Whitley Neill Original London Dry Gin is crafted in England by Johnny Neill, an 8th-generation distiller. He uses a century-old copper pot still for the small-batch production. The gin incorporates unusual African botanicals, such as the fruit of the baobab tree and cape gooseberries, alongside more traditional ones like sweet orange, lemon peel, orris root, angelica root, cassia bark, and juniper.

This gin presents a fragrant aroma of flowers. If it were packaged in a smaller container, one might mistake it for perfume. The delightful floral notes, subtle fruit, and spice, absent from the initial scent, transition to the palate with a robust, succulent quality that stimulates the mouth. A well-rounded conclusion, with sufficient juniper providing a counterpoint, leaving a desire for another taste. Excellent on its own, chilled, with tonic, or in a martini... My next drink with this will be an Aviation. I'm eager to try it
I'm quite fond of this gin. It's masterfully crafted with a robust juniper profile that still allows other flavors to emerge. The sweetness is perfectly balanced, enabling the use of a light tonic to showcase all the tastes. Its smooth character, considering the 43% ABV, is impressive and makes it suitable for sipping. I'm a big admirer of this tonic.
Very smooth with well-rounded flavors. It strongly resembles Portobello Road gin, possessing a very similar overall character. It's enjoyable with tonic, soda water, neat, or a martini with a brief mention of vermouth. A great value gin.
Bright citrus and fruit aromas, floral notes, with a subtle hint of juniper. Hints of lemon, orange peel, rose petals, and something else intriguing. Smooth and silky texture. A delicious treat in a martini.
Fantastic Gin! I appreciate that the juniper is present but doesn't dominate the cocktail. I'm eager to sample the entire range they produce.
