Westland Colere Edition 4 is the fourth release in the brand's Colere series, which focuses on exploring different barley varieties. Previous editions featured Alba (a six-row winter barley), Talisman (a two-row winter barley), and Pilot (a two-row spring barley), all cultivated in the Pacific Northwest. This edition highlights Fritz, a barley variety developed at Washington State University's The Bread Lab research center. It was aged for 71 months, primarily in refill Westland casks with a combination of light char, heavy toast, and heavy toast with light char finishes. Production was limited to 3,084 bottles, with availability commencing in May 2024 at select US retailers for $149.99 SRP.

A rich barley scent, delightful and mildly sweet. Expertly balanced, it's rich and sweet without being overwhelming or syrupy. Tastes of sugary gingerbread and graham cracker without being distinctly festive. I love this; a touch of smoke or bitterness to balance the sweetness would make it perfect, despite its current harmony. This is my favorite so far.
Sweet bread. A subtle sweetness. Peanut. Raisin. A bit of a malty, funky character. Well-balanced and intricate.
Slightly bitter and bready; adding water enhances it.
