The Colere series from Westland Whiskey investigates barley varieties in American single malt whiskey. Edition 3 highlights a two-row barley varietal named pilot, a spring variety originating from the UK. Following fermentation with Belgian Brewer's Yeast, the whiskey is distilled and matures for 41 months. The maturation comprises predominantly refill Westland casks (93%) with various toast and char levels, along with a second-fill oloroso sherry hogshead. A total of 4,629 bottles will be available starting June 2023. (SRP $149.99)

Barley hit with a sweet note, definitely sweeter than expected, and a little harsher. Proof comes in quick on the tail, bowling over the barley. Still good, but not as much as the other expressions. Colere 4 is definitely a significant step up.
