Nose is layered with fresh cut hay, candied orange peel, rye crisp cracker, raspberry, and burnt sugar. Extremely inviting. Ethanol is crazy low. Palate offers peppery rye spice, peach cobbler, cinnamon, clove, black tea, sarsaparilla, cherry, and mint. Not very herbal/botanical, more of a “sweet and spicy” vibe. Flavors are rich, bold, and delicious. Lengthy finish brings floral honey, boysenberry, gingerbread, barrel char, the burnt sugar promised in the nose, and soft sweet oak. Mouthfeel is thick, chewy, and slightly creamy. A much spicier version compared to the 8 and 9 year, but absolutely fantastic. Everything meshes exceptionally well. At $79.99 it’s it’s actually ridiculously underpriced. (Don’t tell Sagamore lol) An absolutely top notch rye and one of the best I’ve ever had.

BATCH 3A NEAT NOSE - A mild, minty rye spice with prominent citrus notes. PALATE - Oak, cinnamon, rye spice, and Juicy Fruit (the gum)! A very enjoyable and appealing palate. FINISH - Rye spice combined with orange peel and Juicy Fruit gum. BUY? - Definitely. BUY AGAIN? - Yes. I find this superior to the 8 and 9 year bottlings. Furthermore, the price is outstanding. Sagamore is among the best for offering excellent whiskey at great prices.
Smells like: brown sugar, cherries, vanilla beans, and caramel. Like all Sagamore Rye offerings (at least the ones I've had).. Smells like a bourbon lover's rye. Its balance is tremendous. Rye is more bready than it is spicy. Taste: Damn. That follows the nose, but there's this amazing rye finish that is just an absolutely bomb of flavor. Overall: Wish I had a backup bottle because this is tremendous. 4.8/5
The aroma offers notes of orange, eucalyptus, and mint tea, alongside caramel and polished wood. It's the sort of scent that invites you to linger and savor before tasting. The initial taste is quite spicy, featuring cinnamon and clove, followed by candied orange and vanilla. The finish is sweet with woody undertones and a hint of mint. An excellent whiskey, with appealing packaging and a fantastic value. What's not to love?
Pleasant texture. Best consumed straight. An excellent slow drinker despite the 110 proof. Fruity, complex taste profile. Its inclusion in WA's top 25 for 2025 is well-deserved. Purchase if you find it at the suggested retail price.
This is a near-perfect rye whiskey. Sagamore has a winner on their hands. This represents the flavor profile that made Maryland famous, prior to prohibition.
