Tres Agaves Tequila Añejo

A powerful scent and initial taste of butter, reminiscent of popcorn. Subsequent sips reveal subtle fruit notes. A pleasant, light butterscotch finish remains on the lips. If butter is a flavor you enjoy, this is for you. It's quite smooth with a mild, lingering burn at the end, but not unpleasant. I appreciate it, though it's unlikely to be a repurchase. Decent, but not exceptional.

I selected this because I had read that they use Woodford Reserve barrels. I concur with Siebert regarding the "buttery popcorn" aroma. The taste is typical agave with an added sweetness of pineapple. I recall reading from the company that their goal was to create the ultimate mixing tequila. I believe they succeeded. It's also a suitable introductory tequila for newcomers to the spirit.

Earthy funk and barrel smoke spice. Peppery, rustic, bottled-up musk tang. I think this tequila needs to open up. The agave integration wasn't my favorite; it felt secondary, which I didn't appreciate. It seemed smooth, but didn't entice another sip.

I found it a little disappointing. I had hoped for more oak and agave presence. Nevertheless, it's quite suitable for cocktails, which is its primary use for me.

Good, a bit thin on the palate. This spirit requires further exploration.
