Gran Centenario Añejo Tequila

This is the first Añejo tequila I've sampled, so my rating is based purely on my enjoyment of it. And I'm enjoying it a lot. The aroma is like a spicy tequila crème brûlée. It starts sweet on the palate, becoming more savory as the flavors develop. The texture is luxuriously smooth. It begins with caramel notes, with the agave always present. It transitions into spices like clove, allspice, and black pepper. The finish is long and warm. There's more sweetness and a touch of jalapeno. I could easily finish a whole bottle of this in one sitting if I were some kind of clueless tourist. Actually, I am, so I probably will.

A generally pleasant and accessible tequila for those new to Añejo. More experienced drinkers might find it deviates from expectations. The complexity is more prominent on the nose than the palate, featuring earthy cooked agave notes with sweet caramel coatings and a hint of cinnamon/mixed spice. The palate is straightforward, presenting as a classic mid-range Añejo with umami, roasted agave, some butterscotch, and a smooth texture, though not as smooth as some competitors in its price range.

Served neat. Pleasant aroma of fruity agave, oak, herbs, chocolate, and vanilla. The taste includes agave, cedar, vanilla, cocoa, oranges, anise, and just a little heat. The finish is long, with cocoa, saccharine, and oak tannin. Perhaps the best in its product line from the makers of Cuervo Gold. As good as añejo gets at this price.

My initial experience with sipping añejo tequila. This presents as a lovely amber liquid with a rich, appealing scent. Delightfully mild and easy to drink, it offers both smokiness and refreshment, concluding with a touch of lingering fruit sweetness. Recommended for newcomers to this spirit!

A creamy, slightly oily taste and texture that diminishes the otherwise pleasant flavor of sweet, vegetal agave, gentle peppery spice, and bright, fresh oak. It's not nearly as distinctive and engaging as the Reposado. I can understand why it's the brand's least-rated offering. Not sold in Ontario.

This Añejo evokes the essence of Mexico! Its aroma is wonderful, featuring caramel and charred oak. The palate is complex, with notes of chocolate, roasted nuts, sweet caramel, and a tingling on the tongue's edges. A definite classic for a high-end sipping tequila.
