About this bottle

This 21-year-old single malt, available in Europe as of early 2015, is sourced from the Cooley Distillery, previously owned by the Teeling family. The whisky was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks, followed by a final year of finishing in ex-Sauternes wine casks. This release, distilled in 1991, has 5000 bottles available in its initial run.

Sampled at a tasting event. This was my favorite among several excellent spirits. I've never encountered a spirit with such a clear and distinct fruit presence. It truly asserts itself on the palate. Right in the center, BAM, fruit. I couldn't pinpoint the exact fruit, but it was tropical, and I'd guess it was pineapple. It's quite intriguing with that prominent fruit note in the middle that encourages you to keep sipping. I enjoy unique flavors, and I certainly enjoyed this one. It's a limited edition and currently priced at $200 - a friend bought a bottle after the tasting, so hopefully, I'll get to try it again with him.

A double-distilled malt from Bushmills, not Cooley. It was created by the then master distiller. This trial single malt was shelved because it didn't align with Bushmills' philosophy.

Following up on recent Teeling notes, this lightly peated malt is another delightful fruity and spicy offering from the family's reserves. It has a pleasant texture and flavors of peaches and cream, though not quite reaching the heights of the best Revival bottlings.

This presents a rapid succession of various flavors, unfortunately, none are particularly pleasant. It's fruity, almost fig-like to my palate. Intriguing, but I can't recommend it.

It smells valuable, tastes valuable, it must be valuable... #FromIreWithLuva
