About this bottle

This single malt from Bushmills is the inaugural bottling in what is planned as an annual series titled The Rare Casks. It is produced from 100% unpeated Irish malted barley and underwent triple distillation in 1992. Initially, it matured for 11 years in former oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon barrels. Subsequently, these two whiskey components were combined and transferred to former cognac casks for the remaining 17 years of maturation. The spirit is bottled at cask strength, 46.7% ABV, without chill-filtration. This U.S. exclusive release is limited to only 500 bottles and was available from October 2020 through select retailers and online via Flaviar.

Darnell Andres 5.0

This is easily the finest Bushmills I've encountered. It's a flawless blend, quite sweet, yet retains that bourbon barrel caramel undertone. The cognac cask integration over 17 years truly distinguishes it from any Irish whiskey I've experienced, comparable to Glenlivet 25. Don't miss the opportunity to acquire this bottle!

Earnest Rosen 4.3

Notes of clover honey and apricot right from the bottle. I detected flavors of fresh cedar, lemon zest, and a medley of floral notes, with citrus being the most dominant, finishing with caramel corn.
