Spirit Works Four Grain Straight Bourbon hails from Sonoma County, California, crafted using organic grains. It ages at least 4 years in 53-gallon New American Charred Oak barrels. The grain bill includes 60% corn, with wheat, barley, and rye making up the rest. Distilled in a pot still, it's a blend of two bourbon recipes. This bourbon is bottled at 90 proof/45% ABV. While the bottle I sampled had a space for the batch number, it wasn't filled in. The texture on the palate felt unpleasantly thick. However, the amazing aromas and taste of this well-made bourbon rival some of the most renowned wheated bourbons. Color: Amber Honey Immediate scents of brown butter, crème brulee, caramel, cinnamon, cooking spices, and some floral notes greet you. The spirit is quite thick and oily on the palate, continuing with notes of brown butter, creamy vanilla, charred oak, maple syrup, and baking spices. The finish is decidedly short, offering hints of cinnamon, vanilla, oak, burnt sugar, and additional baking spices.
