SelvaRey was established by brothers Seth Gold, Marc Gold, and Rob Herzig, along with pop star Bruno Mars. They engaged the expertise of former Havana Club master distiller Francisco “Don Pancho” Fernandez to develop the product. It is a blend of rums aged for 3 and 5 years in ex-bourbon casks, which are then color-stripped using carbon filtration.

Truly an outstanding and adaptable white rum! It's a significant step up from mass-produced white rums like Bacardi. It's not funky or grassy, making it suitable for rum cocktails. I use it in my classic daiquiri and love the results. Overall, it has a pleasant, smooth taste with vanilla notes from the aging process.
The strong alcohol scent masked the flavors, but they would come through if the harshness was reduced. It's not ideal for sipping, even with ice, though it works decently as a mixer.
