St. Petersburg Distillery Old St. Pete Rum & Spice

It's like dessert in a glass! This spirit is fantastic for making bananas Foster, served with vanilla ice cream, it's divine. Enjoyed neat, the nose is sweet and spicy, offering rich cinnamon, honey butter, toffee, butterscotch, allspice, orange blossom, and a whisper of funky, earthy smoke. The palate is spicy, citrusy, and very sweet, dominated by hot cinnamon candy, candied orange peel, and raw honey, with subtle hints of rum's hogo, molasses, and other baking spices. Its texture is syrupy and thick, coating the mouth. In the glass, it adheres to the sides, slowly developing heavy teardrop legs. The finish is slightly bitter yet sweet, evoking bourbon with notes of charred oak, lingering spice, citrus pith, and brown sugar. Indeed, this rum has added sugar post-distillation, as it's intensely sweet, and even a small spill becomes quite sticky. One must be in the mood for sweetness or drink it over ice, but the spice combination within this rum is superb. Nose: 8 Taste: 8 Body: 10 Finish: 9

Incredibly rich and delightful. The clove and spices in this rum are exceptionally prominent. I was browsing at Total Wine when some representatives offered me a sample. I immediately set down the whiskey I was holding and bought this instead. Perfect on its own, and it also mixes very smoothly with cola. This will absolutely be a permanent fixture in my collection.

Excessively sweet for my preference. I truly wished to enjoy it, but found it undrinkable neat or with coke.
