About this bottle

Scapegrace founders Mark Neal and Daniel McLaughlan are behind this New Zealand gin. In addition to standard gin botanicals, it incorporates local sweet potato, aronia berries, pineapple, and saffron. Butterfly pea flower, sourced from Southeast Asia, provides the dark coloration when combined with these ingredients and heated appropriately. The gin is bottled at 41.6% ABV and has been available in the US since September 2021.

Casey Farmer 3.8

The dark hue is a fun trick. With tonic, it transforms into a lovely violet shade. It offers a pleasant aroma of fruit. The flavor profile is both fruity and floral. In terms of taste, it's acceptable, though not among the best for my palate.

Ernie Oswald 3.8

A very interesting take on Scapegrace, not just a gimmick, very tasty, fruity, and floral, not overly juniper-forward, clearly fashionable but genuinely good.

Dominique Roth 1.5

Excessively sweet. A novelty item that doesn't compare to Scapegrace's superior offerings. I won't repurchase.
