About this bottle

Sagamore Spirit's Small Batch Rye is the distillery's inaugural 100% Maryland-distilled rye. The whiskey is crafted using non-GMO grains from their Farm-to-Table initiative, with a composition of triple-distilled high-rye and low-rye mash bills. It spent 4 to 6 years aging before being combined into small batches of 20 barrels. This expression, bottled at 93 proof, has been distributed internationally since May 2024, with a suggested retail price of $39.99.

Kyler Espinoza 4.0

A potent, Straight Rye Whiskey from Sagamore Spirit Distillery in Maryland made with copper stills, matured in new charred oak casks for 4 to 6 years & bottled at 93 proof. It begins with an inviting scent of grain, wood, fruit, herbs & spices; while a strong & zesty journey introduces hints of vanilla, honey & nutmeg; that concludes with an extended & warming end with hints of rye, spiced apricot juice, sweet cream, tobacco leaf & wood. Glad a friend stopped by with a story, tasting & lunch.

Nelda Mercer 4.5

A robust, Straight Rye Whiskey from Sagamore Spirit Distillery in Maryland, made with copper stills, aged in new charred oak for 4 to 6 years and bottled at 93 proof. It has an aromatic beginning with hints of grain, wood, fruit, herbs & spices; a bold & spicy middle adds notes of vanilla, honey & nutmeg; leading to a long & warm conclusion with notes of rye, spiced apricot nectar, caramel cream, tobacco leaf & oak. Appreciation to a friend for stopping by with a story, a tasting, and lunch.

Definitely does not have the typical rye “bite”. Very smooth, pretty sweet, but finishes with rye flavor. Not peppery like the previous version. One of the few sippable ryes for me.
