Jaywalk Straight Rye

An elegant Straight Rye Whiskey from New York Distilling Co., made with Horton Heirloom Rye and Field Race Rye, grown in the Finger Lakes and aged in New American Oak for up to 8 years, bottled at 46% ABV. It opens with aromas of grain, wood, fruits, flowers, nuts, herbs & spices. The rich & spicy palate adds notes of apricots, pineapples, mangos & caramelized sugar, leading to a balanced, medium-length finish with hints of oak, caramel & rye spice.

Day No.7 Pleasant scent with notes of cinnamon and citrus. The taste was quite direct, featuring a harmonious blend of baking spice, caramel, and corn. A minor ethanol sting was present, but it wasn't overwhelming. A solid choice for everyday enjoyment.

The initial aroma reveals notes of plum and citrus. The first taste is smooth, starting with vanilla and caramel, followed by corn and black pepper spice, leading to a slight burn that concludes with a peppery finish.

A rich and oily drink. The nose has baking spice and a hint of orange zest. The palate consists of a heavily chai-spiced vanilla custard. The drink coats the mouth but lacks a lingering finish.

A pleasant rye. A gradual build of heat that slowly subsides, with flavors ranging from caramel to grape that playfully emerge throughout the tasting experience.

Spicy with pepper notes. It offers warmth alongside sweetness, creating a well-rounded profile. While approachable, it truly shines when sipped neat.
