About this bottle

Wolf's Spirit Distillery, an independent producer, offers The Left Cross. This Kentucky bourbon, made with 84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley, is the brand's oldest offering to date at 14 years of age. Following fourteen years in a Kentucky rickhouse, the bourbon undergoes a finishing period of two to six months in freshly emptied 12-year-old Jamaican rum casks. The name, The Left Cross, pays homage to Donovan "Razor" Ruddock, a Jamaican heavyweight boxer known for his signature left cross punch. Production was limited to 2,000 bottles, available in select US markets from November 2022. (SRP $150)

Ginger Berger 4.3

I decided to take a chance on this purchase, having never encountered this distillery before. The backstory and production methods influenced my decision. After several servings, I am pleased with my choice. I'm happy to confirm that the rum finishing they used was a good choice. The aroma presented an intriguing combination of banana Foster's, baking spices, and burnt sugar with a faint earthy undertone. The flavor was an intricate blend starting with grain, which then led to leather, caramel, a touch of cinnamon, and a cane sugar essence derived from the dark rum barrels. This character carried through to the satisfyingly long finish I experienced. The approach taken here was quite original and distinct from anything I've tasted previously. I will definitely savor this bottle. I suggest others try a taste of Puncher's Chance. You will likely be impressed.

Kailey Shelley 4.5

NOSE Peanut brittle, oak, dried fruit, complex spice, dried corn meal, brown sugar, copper. I detect a strong Dickel character in the aroma, with added sweetness. PALATE Dried corn meal, oak, dried dark fruit, dried tropical fruit, complex spice, vanilla, toffee, and some brown sugar and copper. Remarkably complex and dynamic, with that Dickel-like dried corn intensity. FINISH Long -> Dried corn meal, oak, brown sugar, dried dark fruit.
