About this bottle

Papa's Pilar Legacy Edition 2022 is the second bottling in the brand's limited edition rum series. This 2022 release also commemorates the 70th anniversary of Ernest Hemingway's novel, The Old Man and the Sea, a work he completed aboard his boat, Pilar. Master Distiller Ron Call created this blend from nine different rums sourced from Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Venezuela, and Florida, which was then finished in French oak apple brandy casks. Each bottle features genuine leather wrapping and a back pocket containing a notebook and pen. Available since November 2022, Papa's Pilar will contribute $20 from each sale to the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, at a suggested retail price of $102.99.

Lidia Spencer 4.8

Prominent notes of crisp, vibrant apple immediately hit the palate. A full mouthfeel is accompanied by hints of vanilla, Stollen bread, moderate oak, and deep rum spirit characteristics. The finish is exceptionally prolonged, concluding with a baked apple tart essence. A well-integrated blend, considering the diverse combination of five rums. The decision to mature in ex-apple brandy casks proves beneficial, unifying the elements and crafting a memorable sensory journey. A delightful rum, perfect for relaxed sipping while engrossed in a classic Hemingway narrative.
