About this bottle
Appleton Estate Legend is based on the original formulation of a celebrated golden rum that served as the inspiration for the iconic Mai Tai cocktail. When Victor 'Trader Vic' Bergeron created the Mai Tai in 1944 at his Oakland, California bar, he used J. Wray & Nephew 17 Year Rum. For this Legend rum bottling, Appleton Estate Master Blender Joy Spence drew upon original documents and recipes for its recreation. She combined four exceptionally rare distillates, aged for a minimum of 17 years in Jamaica's tropical climate, for this blend. This limited, one-time release will have only 1,500 bottles available, beginning distribution in June 2023 through select retailers in the US, Jamaica, the UK, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Denmark, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, New Zealand, Japan, and Hong Kong. The suggested retail price is $500.
