About this bottle

This is the third release in the Renegade Barrel Collection from Pierre Ferrand, featuring cognacs matured using non-traditional methods. Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel developed this series to honor innovative "renegade" master blenders. For this specific bottling, a Ferrand Premier Cru de Cognac Vintage 2011 was given a second maturation period in ex-Plantation Jamaica HJC casks. These casks previously contained rum produced in 1996 at Jamaica’s Long Pond Distillery. Due to this secondary maturation, the spirit is classified as an "eau-de-vie de vin" rather than cognac. This limited edition is offered at 96.4 proof and has been available in select markets since February 2022.

Kailee Ridley 5.0

Both brandy and rum characteristics are evident in this latest release. The grape spirit is dominant, while the rum contributes a warm, nutty, and rounded middle. The combination is delightful, almost like a pre-mixed drink. With a little simple syrup, some chocolate bitters, and water, it would be excellent for after dinner. The distiller clearly knows their craft and with another success, they are likely to earn numerous awards from spirit competitions for this one. Cheers!

Johnnie Lenz 3.5

The aroma is of grape juice and incense. It's drier and has more alcohol punch than the previous one. The palate has grape jelly, berry compote, dried oak, and alcohol spice. Water reveals a silky, fruity butterscotch. A step down from the last release, but a solid dram.
