Oregon Spirit Dry Gin

The aroma has some nice fresh pine and a light, fresh bitterness. It's an invigorating scent but also worryingly faint. The palate is bitter, dry, clean, and light with a strong juniper presence. Honestly, this is exactly what I anticipated from Oregon Spirit after trying their vodka, which is very neutral but also not very engaging. So they took that base and added juniper. Yep, it's the quintessential neutral gin. The flavors are clean and well-executed, but not very stimulating. There's a hint of oily savoriness that's precisely like pine nuts, which is actually quite interesting and unique. It's not overly complex, but the flavors present are clean and well-executed, making it easy to drink and likely to mix fairly well despite its simplicity. It's enjoyable to sip, though. On a hot summer day, this would be a good choice. I particularly like the pine nut flavor and how the alcohol isn't very noticeable. I can just sit, sip, and appreciate that for a while.

Score: 16/23 The aroma presents pine and lemon, somewhat like dish soap, but clean and invigorating. The taste is light yet rich with a pleasant, clean pine flavor that is more robust and oily than expected, with the citrus notes subdued, distinguishing it from the soapy scent. This is a highly enjoyable gin. I detect some mineral notes, a peppery sensation, and occasional hints of deeper complexity, but overall, this is simply a very well-crafted, clean gin that is notably superior to Oregon Spirit's vodka due to its greater interest. I'm considering a score between 15 and 17. It is truly quite good.

Strong juniper and pine on the nose. Resin, pine, and juniper, followed by citrus and dry spices. The finish warms with nettles, mint, coriander, and pine, lingering for a long time. Unfortunately, it left a resinous off-flavor in my mouth. Thick, coating body. Not impressed.

At some point I might do actual tasting notes. I enjoyed it.

Smooth and viscous. Gentle botanical juniper. A dependable London dry.

I'm not a fan of gin, so don't just believe me.
