Second time trying this: Distinct apple on the nose and palate, medium smoothness, with a lasting peaty flavor that I don't enjoy.

About this bottle
Nikka launched two single malts in 2020 to commemorate the 1920 marriage in Glasgow of founder Masataka Taketsuru and Rita. The couple relocated to Japan, establishing Nikka in 1934. Early in the company's history, apple products supported the distillery while whisky matured. This no-age statement single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery was finished for 6 months in apple brandy casks and bottled at 47% ABV.

Nicely fruity on the palate, but the finish lacks depth. Easy to drink, though it feels too light.
