Coopers' Craft Original 82.2 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Nose: Wood, green apple, cherry, honey Taste: Vanilla, apple Finish: Short with baking spices and more wood Revisiting Cooper's Craft. When Brown Forman initially launched Cooper's Craft in 2016, they boasted about a unique beech and birch charcoal filtering process intended to soften the spirit. This is a post-aging treatment, distinct from the Lincoln County Process used in Tennessee. This method helps account for the wood presence in what is a fairly low-proof product. As I've said before, this is a spirit very much suited for casual sipping, comparable to Buffalo Trace's Benchmark. It's an acceptable sipper but unremarkable. Perhaps its only distinction is that with Brown Forman's recent decision to cease operations at its Cooperage, this brand is likely to be discontinued as well. Why maintain a brand celebrating coopers when there are none?

Edit: This review pertains to the 100 proof Chiseled and charred release. I detect a significant amount of citrus, some underripe apple, and cinnamon on the aroma. The flavor is sweeter than the smell, but the citrus remains prominent. Notes of vanilla and ginger are present. The finish has a slightly bitter citrus peel quality and notes of toasted and more astringent wood. It's a solid whiskey; it delivers the expected bourbon characteristics along with some distinct flavors that maintain interest. A comment on the packaging: this bottle appears designed for reuse as a decanter or infinity bottle. A blind tasting revealed a pleasing medium amber shade. The aroma was incredible, reminiscent of a smooth Blade and Bow with subtle tannins, butterscotch, and a gentle baking spice. The flavor profile offered significant sweetness and caramel, abundant vanilla, and a finish with bready and light nutty characteristics. Highly enjoyable; the apple/pear scent was the unexpected element. Quite good!

It makes me think of it as a "table wine" bourbon: a bourbon for daily consumption that is very straightforward but still pleasing.

The aroma strongly features apple with undertones of wood. The taste matches the woodiness from the nose, while also introducing hints of spice. The finish isn't very long, but it offers a pleasant spiciness and concludes with a light fruitiness that complements the initial aroma.

This has the typical Brown Forman profile, which I find features darker flavors with a slight nuttiness. It's a safe bet. It leans more towards brown sugar than vanilla, almost like molasses. There's some cinnamon and underripe apple, along with hints of pear or other light fruits. A slight ethanol presence is noticeable. The finish isn't long.
