This is earthy, herbal, spicy, smoky delight!! The aroma is herbal and earthy with a pleasant hint of burnt tire. It has a nice oily texture on the palate, delivering spice and pepper with a moderate to heavy smokiness. The finish is medium to long.

About this bottle
Mezcal Marca Negra employs small-batch, time-honored manufacturing methods. Hand-selected agave plants form the basis of this spirit. The piñas are slowly cooked in underground earthen ovens using mesquite-heated stones. Following cooking, the agave hearts are crushed, often with a large stone wheel, and then fermented with spring water in wooden tanks. Airborne yeasts facilitate a natural fermentation that can extend for weeks. The mash undergoes a double distillation in copper pot stills. The Ensemble bottling combines wild Espadin, Madrecuishe, and Biciushe from Oaxaca's Santa Maria La Pila and Miahuatlan regions, harvested between 9 and 14 years of age. Alberto Ortiz, the Maestro Mezcalero, performs a double distillation in copper pots.

Extremely smooth, with strong notes of smoked banana or plantain. It's very rich, full-bodied, and exceptionally well-structured. I loved it immediately!
A bit smoky and peppery, quite enjoyable overall.
