Aroma: Vanilla, candied apples. Ginger and a blend of baking spices. Flavor: Quite sweet, with summer fruits and berries. More of the caramel and vanilla from the aroma. A velvety, rich mouthfeel. A touch of spiced dried fruit. Aftertaste: More sweet spices, a hint of oak. Lingering berry sweetness. I truly enjoyed this for an occasional drink. It's too sweet for my usual drinking preference, but it's a delightful festive whisky.

About this bottle
Mackmyra Jaktlycka is inspired by the Swedish hunting season and forest bounty. Predominantly aged in casks that previously held berry wine from Swedish producer Grythyttan, it also incorporates a mix of saturated American, Swedish, and ex-bourbon oak casks, along with new and first-fill American oak and oloroso casks.

The nose is sweet with abundant berries, which is the highlight of this whisky. The taste doesn't quite match the nose but shows promise with berry, oak, and tart flavors. The finish has an overly pronounced oak presence. Overall, this is a very good whisky that I'd happily drink daily as a go-to.
Golden hue. Smell: hints of berries, forest fruits, red wine, and honey, leaning more towards fruity than sugary. Taste: smooth and velvety with notes of caramel, vanilla, and raisins. Aftertaste: raisins and spice with a touch of oak. Delicious. I appreciate how the spice on the finish complements the mild start.
Amber color. Lingonberry and strawberry on the nose. Hints of smoke. Chestnuts and toasted almond initially, then cranberries. A rich, creamy Black Forest gateau. Like Werther's Originals.
Port-like, tasty, but not much of a lingering aftertaste. Buy it if it's cheap for casual drinking.
Slightly sharp on the tongue, with intense blueberry in the finish.
