Death's Door White Whisky

To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of unaged whiskey. The ones I own are usually just for cocktails. Death's Door white whiskey is frequently stocked, leading me to believe it's one of the better options. The aroma is somewhat bland, with notes of malt and rye bread. The taste is acceptable, not remarkable, but with a hint of vanilla and pepper, and a somewhat oily texture. The finish includes some anise and a little sweetness. I anticipated more burn, but there was very little. Considering its reception, I'm surprised by the low ratings. For what it is, I find it a pretty good unaged whiskey. It's clearly not as good as aged whiskies, but it seems adequate for its category. I likely wouldn't drink it neat again, as there are many superior options, but it seems to work well in the few cocktails that call for unaged whiskey.

I had this in a mixed drink, which is likely the only way to tolerate a good white dog. It really tried to overwhelm me, but fortunately, I had the protection of some decent sweet vermouth and a generous amount of cherries. Otherwise, it smelled floral and delicate. But it wasn't pleasant in any other way. It can surprise you, and some days, that's precisely what you need.

Terrible. I had wanted to try this for ages and was very let down. I usually enjoy white whiskies, but this was sour, harsh, and unpleasant. It's definitely not as good as that other brand.

I personally did not care for it at all. I enjoy strong drinks and whiskies, but this nearly made me spit it out on the first taste. It's not the kind of whisky for me.

I should have checked it before ordering. I didn't realize it was unaged whiskey. It would probably be good in a mixed drink, but not for sipping on its own.

Not great. Might work in a cocktail, but I doubt it.
