Ledaig 2005 14 Year (Single Malts of Scotland)

The nose is creamy with gentle spicy notes, followed by oak and dark chocolate. There are hints of wine sweetness. It is very rich and dessert-like, making you eager for another sip. The palate fills the mouth with barley, chili powder, oak, and a wonderful wine-like creaminess. The flavors are rich and intense, losing nothing as it airs. The cask strength has enhanced how amazing this is, providing the right amount of warmth to balance the sweetness and creaminess. There are no faults to be found. The finish is long, creamy, and spicy, with a lingering wine sweetness. It keeps you wanting the next sip and is a true delight to savor. This is outstanding and worth purchasing repeatedly.

The aroma is deeply layered with sweet and earthy notes that clearly state what it is: sherried Ledaig. The palate is shockingly complex with flavors that span the spectrum from earthy to sweet to savory and salty. The finish is lovely and I wish the smoked cocoa aspect would never end. I’m a big fan of this whisky.
