About this bottle

Westland released two single cask bottlings in July 2014 to commemorate its inaugural Peat Week. This expression is aged for two years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and is made with 100% Scottish Highland peated barley. Westland Distillery distinguishes its American single malt offerings through an evident aspiration to draw inspiration from Scotch whisky while forging a distinct identity.

The aroma is subtle. However, the taste delivers marshmallow, mixed berry pie, apricot, and traces of chocolate, followed by a very smoky finish. It's quite enjoyable, and I'm eagerly anticipating the debut of their official peated version.
