La Caña Grande Silver Rum

The nose is much like peppery vodka with only a slight trace of sugar cane and a bit of leather. The palate is quite similar, with some sweetness and pepper; it resembles very inexpensive vodka with hints of citrus peel. The finish is purely alcohol. It's not unpleasant like Bacardi, but it's definitely for mixing only.

The aroma is like a hospital. All I smell is isopropyl alcohol. The flavor is much better, with vanilla and sugar cane on the tongue until the swallow. The aftertaste and finish bring only heat and more rubbing alcohol.

A light Barbados Rum with a delicate start featuring vanilla, leading to a moderate life and a complex, medium-length finish. May 2019.
