Kula Toasted Coconut Rum

Aroma: Coconut, naturally, with hints of vanilla and toasted marshmallow – delightful! Flavor: Essentially mirrors the aroma – coconut, vanilla, and toasted marshmallow. Comparison to Malibu rum: Imagine Malibu as a diluted version of Kula, akin to what you drank in your college days versus what you might enjoy a few years later. Malibu has a more syrupy sweetness but a watery mouthfeel, mild flavor, no trace of marshmallow, and is 14% lower in alcohol by volume! Drinking them side-by-side, Malibu has less sensory impact. The toasted marshmallow notes in Kula become very apparent after a sip of Malibu. Kula is honestly a bit too sweet for sipping neat, but it's fine when a partner needs a quick shot after a demanding day without the bother of mixing a cocktail. However, it performs well in mixed drinks. Rating based on neat sipping AND compared to Malibu rum (as this is intended more for mixing than sipping).
