Knob Creek 18 Year Bourbon, initially launched in 2022 for the brand's three decades in existence, will be available again in autumn 2024 as a special, limited edition. This expression spent 18 years maturing in new, charred American oak casks, which is double the maturation time of the standard Knob Creek offering. It is bottled at 100 proof and is expected to be on the market starting in October 2024 with a suggested retail price of $174.99.

Strong oak flavors. Is it good? Absolutely. Is it worth the price? I think if you enjoy the flavors here it might be worthwhile to take a sip of Dickel 15 year and see if you are okay with the additional mineral/vitamin taste. For about one third of the price Dickel 15 gets really close to the profile of this.
Smell: Intense imitation vanilla with a thick brown sugar flavor, potent wood and a hint of evergreen. Taste: Powerful wood hitting first, then a gentle vanilla sweetness and a smooth, fatty texture. Aftertaste: Lingering sweetness, possibly burnt sugar topping, and wood.
Aroma: Nutty and oak Taste: Nutty with cherry, caramel, and a slight floral note Finish: Medium with cherry and vanilla If it had an oily or viscous texture, it would be a perfect score.
Aroma: Roasted chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and oak. Similar to a tootsie roll. Palate: Oak and caramel. Lingering finish. Overall: Excellent. Pronounced oak, well-balanced.
Oak, as expected. I anticipated it would be truly impressive for the cost. It wasn't. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid bourbon. I prefer the 12-year expression, however.
The aroma brings to mind burnt peanut oil. Scents of peanut shells, a smoky quality, and earthy oak mingle with nougat. It feels richer on the palate than the 12-year expression. The finish is dry and offers moderate warmth.
