Carlton Miguel 3.5

Smell: fruity, red fruits, vanilla, cloves, figs, sweet, malt and a little cinnamon. Great aroma. Taste: quite sweet, red fruits (cherries and plums), dried fruits, a little vanilla, cloves, malt, wine notes and barely any perceptible alcohol. Finish: short. Sweet and very pleasant. Overall impressions: good whisky, pleasant, flavorful and very fruity, almost a Speyside trademark. Perfect for sharing good times with friends, and also excellent for beginners who aren't accustomed to more robust whiskies.

Sampled beside Alaskan waters in a disposable cup. Lana Corley 4.0

A nice rendition, though the aroma is superior to the taste. It has a 40% ABV and a polished mahogany hue. On the nose, I detected notes of a cola-like soda, pepper, vanilla, damp earthiness, almonds, and coffee. The palate is pleasant but not particularly striking, with hints of oak and chocolate, plus an interesting flavor reminiscent of the sweet syrup found in canned cherries. It has a medium body, makes the mouth water, and finishes with a long note of clove. It's a decent drink, but I wouldn't repurchase it as it becomes somewhat monotonous over time. Rated 82 out of 100.

Alyce Condon 3.8

Elegant single malt The flavor is as expected. Initially, it's slightly sour and quite tart due to the soleva vat process. Then, the floral scent gently melds with the palate. The finish combines a dry sensation on the tongue with a sweet aroma and honey that spreads across the sides of the mouth. It evokes a sense of pleasure and lightheadedness, much like the beginning of a romance, full of sweetness and poetry.

Austin Jennings 4.5

Acquired from Duty Free, likely around $125 per bottle depending on location. Exhibits excellent balance with fruity sweetness and sherry cask influence upfront. Not harsh at 80 proof. A subtle smokiness emerges at the end, complementing the lingering port whiskey on the palate. Features notes of caramel, golden brown hues, and oak tannins. Highly enjoyable; additional aging would elevate it to perfection.

Tim Culbertson

Nose like bottled perfume, floral taste (subjectively soapy, but pleasingly so), absent smoke. Lacks the cherry or fruit notes many describe. “Intriguing... limited flavor profile. I detect Oak & wood” Acquired in Seattle on June 21, 2018 For $70US Superior to many recent releases.
