It has a rich aroma, reminiscent of butterscotch like a fine scotch. The palate is less creamy and more minty than anticipated, somewhat like Arta Añejo. There's more wood present than expected, but the maltiness does emerge with some pleasant smooth cinnamon alongside toasted wood, giving it a butterscotch flavor that borders on toffee. It possesses a clean scotch profile somehow. I also appreciate the apple flavor, which confirms its scotch identity. It carries a bourbon-like quality that reminds me of Glenfiddich 14 or perhaps Compass Box Spice Tree. It's quite enjoyable, though I do think I favor the Reposado slightly more. I do appreciate the intriguing way the tequila elements interact, but the overall flavor isn't exceptional.

About this bottle
Felipe Camarena distills G4 Añejo Tequila at El Pandillo Distillery in Jesús María, Jalisco. The distillery, representing four generations of tequila making, uses agaves cooked for 22 hours in stone ovens and crushed by a metal tahona named "Felipestein". Both distillations occur in copper stills, and the spirit is made with a blend of collected rainwater and spring water. This añejo expression is matured for two years in used bourbon barrels and contains no additives.

This is likely the most enjoyable tequila I've ever encountered. The agave flavor is dominant and virtually the sole profile, making it ideal for sipping.
Prominent barrel on the nose but less noticeable on the tongue. It's still good, but I believe the delicate character of the blanco and reposado has been lost.
The aroma carries notes of lime and salty agave. On the palate, there's a citrus zing, sweetened oak, and warming agave, with a hint of ash. The finish is moderately warming.
An acceptable tequila, but surprisingly light for an añejo. It tastes like a lightly aged blanco. Not recommended for sipping.
Very pleasant and flavorful! Incredibly smooth.
