This Caribbean rum's maturation journey starts in Barbados and Guyana, where it rests in American oak casks. After five years, the rum is transported to Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. There, it is transferred into casks that previously held 20-year-old "Dos Cortados" sherry and undergoes an additional three years of finishing, leading to its "5 + 3" designation.

A nice sipping rum, nothing profound. With the price of this one being right in between plantation 5 year and diplomatico orada I’d either save a buck and go with the former which is very similar or splurge and spring for the latter which is a notch above.
Smells of vanilla, oak, coffee, grass, brown sugar, and popsicles. The palate is smooth, with vanilla, oak, toast, coffee, and brown sugar flavors. A touch of heat on the finish.
The aroma offers notes of grass, subtle molasses, and coffee. The taste is light and spicy, with hints of molasses and coffee.
Sweet and oaked. The sugarcane was quite noticeable. Pleasant to drink.
A good rum, but not as exceptional as the Dos Maderas 5+5.
Good rum. Not excessively sweet.
