Don Papa Rum is named in honor of the historical figure Papa Isio, a leader and freedom fighter who championed the Philippines' independence from Spanish rule. The rum is made from sugarcane grown on Negros, his home island, and is aged for 10 years in re-charred American oak barrels at the base of Mount Kanlaon. It is bottled at 43% ABV, a higher proof than the brand's 7 Year offering, which is bottled at 40% ABV. Only 5,000 bottles of this limited edition were produced.

Among the finest rums I've had up to this point; I find it surpasses Diplomatico. It's exceptionally smooth, featuring abundant molasses, orange zest, and oak, complemented by Don Papa's characteristic vanilla essence. Ideal served neat or on the rocks, and particularly excellent with a cigar.
A good compromise compared to the 7-year, I find it less sweet and less 'manufactured,' still with plenty of aromas. The difference from the 7-year is definitely noticeable.
A profound and distinctive sweet flavor. Abundant orange peel and molasses noted... I'm quite fond of it, but it might not appeal to everyone.
Slightly less vanilla and sweetness, but with a sharper edge. A respectable rum!
