Don Fulano Reposado Tequila

The aroma is strangely reminiscent of framboise liqueur, but there's also some added alcohol with hints of lime. The palate is sweet and minty, with a rich undertone of butterscotch, earthiness, some spice, and herbal notes of cooked agave. The cooked agave is very noticeable here. It's quite sweet and rich in a decadent way. It's tasty, although not exceptionally complex, interesting, or marked by sophisticated nuances. It's a very good reposado that is quite drinkable, even if it falls short of greatness. A larger sip reveals more subtleties, significantly improving the tequila.

This tequila has a somewhat unusual aroma for its type, almost like a raicilla. It features raisin, licorice, a touch of cheese, and a hint of Belgian dark ale. On the palate, there's licorice, brine, clove, and cola. Some flavors are similar to the blanco, but it's a bit fruitier and more mellow. The finish includes wintergreen, ethanol, and some pepper. Compared to the blanco, the aroma was the main difference, and I actually preferred the blanco's aroma. So, while I like this, I'd suggest the (less expensive) blanco instead.

The aroma doesn't match the flavor. It has a dry finish and is not nearly as unpleasant as I anticipated from the smell. The smell has a subtle olive quality, but the taste isn't quite the same. It might grow on me.

Remarkably outstanding! Fruity, not excessively sweet. We conducted a blind tasting against Fortaleza reposado and Q4 reposado. Don Fulano was surprisingly the clear victor. More affordable and readily available than Fortaleza.

Aroma: Caramel, oak, agave. Palate: Grapefruit, caramel, oak, agave, with a hint of pepper and dark chocolate. Finish: Oak, caramel, pepper. It shows more oak influence than Tequila Ocho.
