About this bottle

Astral Tequila is made using 100% blue Weber agave, which is crushed with a traditional stone tahona after cooking. The agave fibers, known as 'bagasso', are incorporated into the fermentation process to enhance flavor. The blanco tequila is bottled without aging at 80 proof. Diageo, the new owner of the brand, reintroduced this tequila in April 2022 with a new distillery, recipe, and packaging, differing from the prior 92 proof version.

Kelvin Wagoner 4.0

A new Diagio recipe from their distillery, 80 proof, sampled neat at room temperature. Appearance is clear with a hint of grey, leaving rich, coating streaks in the glass. The aroma offers floral honeysuckle and spicy geranium, with earthy citrus notes in the background. On the palate, it's clean and floral with vanilla, featuring sweet green vegetable flavors, a touch of earthiness, and subtle sour and funky undertones. The texture is coating and soft. Ethanol presence is minimal to none. Quite enjoyable. The finish is rather brief, dominated by lime and saline. Lacks peppery or grassy spice. This is a very drinkable tequila neat, with pleasing flavors centered around a floral/vegetable foundation. I'll explore its potential in cocktails and provide an update.

This intricate Agave Spirit from NOM 1607 begins aromatically with hints of agave, fruit, nuts, herbs, and spices. Its rich and complex character introduces flavors of caramel, grapefruit, melon, grass, lemon peel, and pear, culminating in a medium-length, herbaceous finish featuring oak, pepper, almonds, clove, and coriander.

Sonja Halverson 4.0

A rich Agave Spirit from distillery 1137. It starts aromatically with notes of agave, earth, fruits, herbs & spices; its rich & spicy life adds notes of citrus & white pepper; leading to a balanced, medium-length finish. December 2017 / March 2018 / June / September / October 2019

Greg Barr 3.8

Orange/citrus taste upfront, followed by sweet grassy and earthy flavors, with a very salty finish. Smooth. Plenty of character, especially for a blanco. All you need is a lime for a shot, plenty of salt on the back end

Denise Gardiner 3.5

A somewhat different flavor profile than the standard blanco. It certainly has agave notes, but with a more herbal, earthy character and a hint of grapefruit zest.

Kaitlynn Bolton 3.3

Not our top pick, but adequate for the price when making homemade margaritas.
