Jimmy's Texas Bourbon (Discontinued)

I obtained a bottle of this based on a recommendation from a store employee during a recent work trip. I mentioned my preference for sherry cask scotches and also my enjoyment of bourbon. The employee shared that this spirit came from a winery that discovered a spring while excavating for a new well, which led them to produce spirits. They then created this bourbon and finished it in their own port wine barrels. With that said, the port influence is noticeable but doesn't mask the bourbon's identity. I can certainly detect the typical vanilla, caramel, and fresh oak notes in both the aroma and flavor, complemented by the fruity character from the port wine. I find it to be a light and refreshing variation on a traditional bourbon. I believe the employee's suggestion was spot on. It's like a sherry bomb for scotch, but a port bomb for bourbon, if such a term exists. If not, I'm creating it now. I'm a very satisfied customer!

A Christmas present from a thoughtful sibling in Texas. It's not my top choice, but it's unique. The aroma is very faint; perhaps my sense of smell is compromised again. I detect cinnamon, pepper, and a fruity note I can't quite identify. The finish is surprisingly long, considering the low proof and lack of overall complexity.

Sharp alcohol scent with a touch of sweetness. Delicate flavors with a strong kick.

Silky and has a spicy, buttery toffee essence. The best whiskey I hadn't encountered before.
