Cierto Tequila, meaning "true," is a 100% additive-free tequila brand featuring estate-grown agave from Jalisco's Highlands. Master Distillers Enrique Fonseca and Sergio Mendoza, who come from families with four and five generations of agave farming experience, created these tequilas at La Tequileña Distillery in the town of Tequila. Every bottling in the Private Collection is a blend incorporating aged tequilas from Fonseca's personal collection. The Reposado expression was aged principally in French Limousin oak that had previously held wine and spirits like cognac and armagnac. It started becoming available in select US markets in February 2023, with a broader national rollout planned throughout 2023. (SRP $119)

The nose is spicy and dark, with caramel mixed with the agave. It has a fairly round, but slightly less creamy entry, with oak characteristics adding sweet caramel, brown butter, pecan, and spicecake to the flavor. There's also a gentle spice reminiscent of cinnamon red hots. The finish is long, dry, and tannic. A thoughtful and introspective reposado.
